Symphony Parnassus presents a thoughtfully curated program that spans American landscapes, Russian elegance, and Nordic drama. The afternoon opens with Jack Gallagher's Diversions Overture, moving from relaxed, Copland-like Americana to sweeping cinematic melodies before settling into a peaceful prairie sunset. Rising young cellist Daniel Wang then takes center stage for Tchaikovsky's beloved Variations on a Rococo Theme, a graceful showcase that blends classical restraint with romantic warmth and virtuosic flair. The concert culminates in Sibelius's powerful Symphony No. 1, a work of dramatic intensity that moves from brooding darkness to triumphant resolution. Join us Sunday, February 15 at 3pm at Taube Atrium Theater for an afternoon that journeys from the American West to Imperial Russia to the forests of Finland.
